The Asian Spring: Youth-led protests gaining momentum

Dragonfly is pleased to invite you to a briefing looking at the risk of unrest across Asia.

Youth-led protest movements have emerged in multiple Asian countries over the past few years. Bouts of unrest in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka have resulted in significant violence and in some cases political instability; last week, the prime minister of Nepal resigned following two days of violent protests. Similar to the Arab Spring, these movements have been in reaction to government corruption and to demand economic opportunities for young people. 

In this briefing, we will cover: 

• Emerging patterns of anti-government sentiment and youth anger in South and Southeast Asia 
• Which other countries are likely to be susceptible to similar protest movements into 2026 
• The outlook for regime instability across the region
