The general election in Thailand highlighted persistent social grievances around democratic governance. A large pro-democracy protest campaign now seems probable over the coming months amid a contentious government formation process. Cambodia is also facing its first transition of power for nearly four decades after Prime Minister Hun Sen, leader of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), announced he is stepping down and handing over power to his son. This comes following the general election last month, which excluded any credible opponents and predictably led to an overwhelming majority for the CPP.
In this webinar, we will cover:
- The outlook for the new government in Thailand and its impact on the country’s pro-democracy movement
- The likelihood of a coup or other serious destabilising political events in Thailand
- What succession in Cambodia means for businesses
- Whether Cambodia’s new leader can address the pressing popular demands
- The webinar will include an opportunity for you to pose questions to our panel.
