Webinar | Sub-Saharan Africa: Middle powers exerting influence
Dragonfly is hosting a webinar looking at how countries other than the US and China are extending their diplomatic and economic presence in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Several middle powers, notably Turkiye, Iran and the Gulf states, appear to be deepening their political ties and economic partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa this year. This is occurring as the US and other major global powers seem to be de-prioritising their engagement with African countries. We anticipate that these changing geopolitical relations will notably exacerbate existing conflicts and encourage autocratic governance over the coming few years in several profound ways.
In this webinar, we will cover:Â
- Drivers for increased engagement of middle powers in Sub-Saharan AfricaÂ
- Consequences for regional security dynamics, including in the Sahel and Horn of Africa
- Operational implications for businesses within Sub-Saharan Africa
This webinar will take place on Thursday, 29 February at 1100hrs New York / 1600hrs London / 1700hrs Paris / 2000hrs Dubai. It will also include an opportunity for you to pose questions to our panel.
