Webinar | France: Navigating political gridlock
FiscalNote Global Intelligence is hosting a webinar looking at the outcome of the French legislative elections and what it is likely to mean for businesses.
The outlook for French politics and economic and social policies is in uncharted territory. Although the left seems to have blocked the far right’s path to power following snap legislative elections, no plausible alliance appears able to deliver an absolute majority, leaving a hung parliament.
With three divergent ideological blocs holding nearly equal legislative power, and disagreement even within the constituent parties, the coming months will be fraught with disagreement and disruption to the legislative process. Political and economic instability will make the year ahead an uncertain one for organisations with interests or operations in France, but also in Europe more widely.
In this webinar, we will cover:
- How coming weeks will play out in parliament and which policies the rival blocs could agree on
- How instability could affect financial markets and France’s banks and main creditors
- Implications for the 2025-26 budget plans and agreeing the plans with the EU Commission
- The likely impacts on union activity, including disruptive strikes, and the risk of civil unrest
- The outlook for French security leadership in Europe, especially on Ukraine
This webinar will take place on Monday, 15 July at 1000hrs New York / 1500hrs London / 1600hrs Paris / 1800hrs Dubai. It will also include an opportunity for you to pose questions to our panel.
